Hoa Dang means flower lantern. Lanterns are lit to celebrate the spiritual and cultural values of the Vietnamese people. During Lunar New Year, people release lanterns on the river to pray for good luck, peace and national security. Flower lanterns are a unique cultural ritual of Hoi An and later became popular in Hue city during the festival season.
