This October, Hotel de la Coupole – MGallery welcomes Chef Christian Chu, the first Vietnamese-origin chef to earn a Michelin star in the Czech Republic, for a special culinary journey where gastronomy meets a meaningful cause.
On 24 October 2026, Chef Christian will join Oliver Mette, Director of Culinary at Hotel de la Coupole Sapa, for the Pink October Four-Hands Charity Dinner, an evening dedicated to raising awareness and support for people affected by breast cancer.
More than a meeting of two accomplished chefs, the evening is conceived as a celebration of compassion, solidarity and the belief that gastronomy can bring people together for something greater.
Christian Chu – A Vietnamese culinary talent making history in Europe
Chef Christian Chu has carved out a remarkable culinary journey from his Vietnamese roots to the world of European fine dining.
Based in the Czech Republic, Christian became the first Vietnamese-origin chef to earn a Michelin star in the country– a milestone not only in his own career, but also a proud moment for Vietnamese culinary talent on the international stage.
His cooking brings together the influences of his Vietnamese heritage and his experience in Europe, expressed through contemporary techniques, precision and a distinctly personal approach to fine dining.
This October, Christian brings that journey to the mountains of Sa Pa for a residency at Hotel de la Coupole, one that culminates not simply in a celebration of culinary achievement, but in an evening dedicated to giving back.
For the Pink October dinner, he will cook alongside Oliver Mette, whose culinary direction at Hotel de la Coupole draws inspiration from Sa Pa’s local ingredients and distinctive mountain setting while remaining rooted in French and European techniques. Together, the two chefs will bring different backgrounds, experiences and culinary perspectives to one table, united by a shared purpose.
A table of purpose
At the heart of the Pink October Four-Hands Charity Dinner is a simple idea: an extraordinary meal can also become an opportunity to make a difference.
The dinner is organised in partnership with Breast Cancer Network Vietnam (BCNV), a non-profit organisation dedicated to breast cancer awareness and supporting people affected by the disease.
Profits from the evening will be donated to BCNV, helping the organisation continue its work for the breast cancer community in Vietnam.
Beyond fundraising, the evening will also create space for a more personal expression of support. Guests will be invited to write messages of love, strength and encouragement for breast cancer patients – small words carrying a powerful reminder that no one should face the journey alone.
Set against the dramatic mountain landscape of Sa Pa and the theatrical surroundings of Hotel de la Coupole, the evening reflects the spirit of Pink October at MGallery: bringing people together through meaningful experiences while transforming moments of hospitality into opportunities for connection and positive impact.
Through this special collaboration, Hotel de la Coupole continues its commitment to creating culinary experiences that go beyond the table – celebrating talent, storytelling and community while supporting a cause of lasting importance.
