One of Vietnam’s most acclaimed resorts is ushering in 2020 in a state of zen, launching restorative spa packages tailored to guests’ birth years, zodiac signs and zodiac elements.
Inspired by the Vietnamese zodiac elements of wood, fire, earth, metal and water, the Anam’s new spa therapy begins with a consultation with the resort’s ‘elements’ spa specialist, who assesses the guest’s birth year to determine his or her zodiac sign and zodiac element.
The specialist then crafts a customized treatment plan including reinvigorating treatments designed to align mind, body and soul.
“It’s all in the stars and in the elements at our spa, as we begin the year of the rat with a focus on our spa guests’ birth years,” said the resort’s founder Pham Van Hien. “This is how to really turn up the heat on an individual spa journey.”
Examples of bespoke packages, available to book now, include:
Wood-horse combination:
Those born in 1954 and 2014 are of the horse zodiac sign and wood zodiac element. Although horse signs are generally optimistic, these individuals are prone to high levels of stress from work demands.
A wood-horse spa package offers a bamboo massage, using real bamboo to roll and knead bodily tissue, helping to alleviate mind tension and soothe muscle aches and pains. A cleansing coffee scrub, and rosemary-essential oil and aloe vera tea evoke a sense of relaxation.
Earth-tiger combination:
Those born in 1938 and 1998 are of the tiger zodiac sign and earth zodiac element. Lovers of sports and physical activity, tiger signs are mentally and physically strong, meaning it is important that they stay focused and refreshed to continue to perform at their optimum level and avoid feeling overworked.
An earth-tiger spa package reconnects guests with their inner spirit with a full detox and deep cleansing mineral mud wrap. A refreshing lemongrass essential oil and chrysanthemum tea results in guests feeling grounded and ready to hit the ground running, after leaving the treatment room.
Water-snake combination:
Those born in 1953 and 2013 are of the snake zodiac sign and water zodiac element. Snakes tend to thrive in a peaceful environment and thus find it difficult to be productive when faced with a heavy workload or stressful situation.
A snake-water spa package targets symptoms of stress, with a relaxing back massage and nourishing facial treatment helping to relieve tight muscles and eradicate blockages. A lavender essential oil and artichoke tea instills a sense of inner peace and calm.
To complement the spa treatments, the resort offers yoga and meditation sessions with the resort’s resident yogi, Umesh.
The Anam affords three swimming pools, four restaurants, three bars and a 300-metre stretch of private beachfront set on what is often cited as Vietnam’s best beach.
