On May 21, 2022, the Vietnam Golf Association and VGS Group officially announced the start of the Vietnam Senior Championship – the opening tournament for the Vietnam Amateur Series presented by T99 (T99 Vietnam Amateur Series 2022).
As usual, 100 amateur golfers will compete in the Stroke Play format through 02 rounds of 18 holes. The golfers will compete according to the group of Middle-aged Men (50-60 years old), Middle-aged women (45-55 years old), Senior Men (over 60 years old) and Senior Women (over 55 years old).
The Vietnam Senior Championship has been held since 2008 and the golfer holding the record for the most wins of this tournament is Andrew Hung Pham with 5 victories ( 2014, 2015, 2016, 2019 and 2021). Since 2018, with the goal of promoting the women’s golf movement, the Vietnam Golf Association has added a women’s group to the tournament.
With the desire to further improve the professional quality of national tournaments, this year, the Vietnam Golf Association introduced a maximum handicap limit for golfers participating in the tournament, in which the maximum handicap of male golfer is 15.0 and female golfer is 20.0. In addition, instead of having a net score like every year, this year the tournament will officially calculate the results according to the gross score. The two male and female golfers with the best gross results after 2 days of competition will become the champions.
The tournament will take place in two days from 4-5 June at Vinpearl Golf Nam Hoi An. With the companionship of Vinpearl Golf and Vinpearl Golf Nam Hoi An, this year’s tournament promises to be an ideal place for golfers to compete and exchange experiences.
