In his new role, Mr. David Coyle’s vision is for Grand Mercure Danang to become the most recognized and high-profile hotel in Danang with the commitment to local culture, arts, entertainment, culinary experience and unique activities. Mr. David Coyle brings over 25 years of experience in hospitality industry from 4 to 5 star hotels and resorts in Australia, Thailand and Vietnam.
Originally from New Zealand, Mr. David Coyle started his career in hotels in 1992 in the Whitsunday Islands on the Great Barrier Reef in Queensland Australia as a bellboy. He spent several years working in all departments of the hotel operations before moving into Sales & Marketing, eventually holding senior roles with Intercontinental and Hyatt hotel groups.
He returned to full operations when appointed General Manager of the Hotel Lindrum MGallery in Melbourne which saw him achieve “Best 4.5 star hotel in Australia in the Australian Hotel Association Awards. His journey led him to Phuket as GM of the first Pacific International resort outside of Australia and onwards to Group GM of multiple Phuket based resorts including Best Western Laguna, Maikhao Dream Villa Resort and the prestigious Richmond Villa Resort and Spa Bangtao.
He first ventured to Vietnam in 2012 as the General Manager of the Swiss-Bel Golden Sand Resort & Spa in Hoi An and Owners Representative for the sister property in Tamky, opened as the Sheraton Grand Resort and Villas. He is renowned for his pre-opening experience having successfully completed openings of the Park Regis Coco Bay, Lesiure Inn Coco Bay and the Radisson Hotel Da Nang. He has also held the positon of General Manager and Group Sales Advisor for La Siesta Hotels under the EHG Group of Vietnam. His most recent position before joining the family of Grand Mercure Danang was as Cluster general manager for four ACCOR resorts in Phuket, Thailand including the Novotel and Swissotel brands.
