This September, Hotel de la Coupole Sapa – MGallery Collection invites guests, local communities and travellers to experience the spirit of Heritage Days through ”Upon the Mountain, Down on the Hill”, a month-long art exhibition presented in collaboration with Hanoi Studio Gallery.
The exhibition brings together five accomplished Vietnamese artists, whose distinctive practices and individual artistic voices offer different interpretations of landscape, human presence and memory. Together, their works create a layered dialogue between the natural world and the inner landscapes it evokes, inviting audiences to experience the landscape not only as a place, but also as a feeling, a memory and a source of imagination.
Since 1985, the beloved Heritage Days annual festival sees the opening of privately-owned historic sites, monuments, and cultural landmarks to the public, welcoming all to explore and marvel at Europe’s rich culture and history. Hotel de la Coupole Sapa – MGallery Collection’s Upon the Mountain, Down on the Hill is proud to join more than 120 MGallery Collection properties celebrating the captivating festivities across Europe and Vietnam.

Some autumns pass through the landscape. Some pass through the heart. And some linger between nature and memory.
Upon the Mountain, Down on the Hill brings together five accomplished Vietnamese artists — Pham Thai Binh, Nguyen Ngoc Thanh, Nguyen Quoc Trung, Pham Tra My and Pham Thuy Tien — presenting 28 artworks that explore the relationship between nature, people and memory.
Through colour, form, texture and human presence, the exhibition offers new ways of seeing the familiar landscapes of Sapa and the emotions they evoke, inviting audiences to discover how the landscape can be experienced, remembered and reimagined through art.
Art lovers, hotel guests, local communities and travellers are invited to wander through this meeting of landscapes and imagination, discovering works that transform mountains and hills into dreams, memories and emotions. Nature speaks through colour, people respond through form and memory, and art preserves what time might otherwise carry away.
The exhibition invites us to meet somewhere in between — where colour meets memory, nature meets people, and reality meets imagination.
