Golfer born in 2004 completed the round of golf with a record of 70 strokes (-2 strokes), 2 strokes better than second place opponent Le Khanh Hung and 4 strokes under Nguyen Tuan Anh.
After a two-year suspension due to COVID-19, the 2022 Open HCMC Junior Golf Championship returned to junior golfers at Long Thanh golf course (Dong Nai) on June 10. This is the 5th time the tournament takes place in coordination between the Junior Golf Club under the Ho Chi Minh City Golf Association (HGA) and the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports. This year’s tournament continues to be open to amateur golfers aged 6-18 from provinces across the country to participate. The 2022 HOpen HCMC Junior Golf Championship has 58 golfers participating in the competition.
At the end of the tournament, Tran Lam once again recorded his name in the history of The Open HCMC Junior Golf Championship. The 17-year-old golfer finished with a record of 70 strokes (-2 strokes), 2 strokes better than runner-up Le Khanh Hung and 4 strokes under Nguyen Tuan Anh. This is the third time that Tran Lam has been crowned in this golf tournament in a row (in 2020 and 2021 it will not take place). The previous two times, Tran Lam’s results respectively were 70 strokes and 69 strokes.
With this result, Tran Lam received the championship trophy, was named in the penalty shootout and received a gold medal from the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City. Silver and bronze medals belonged to Le Khanh Hung and Nguyen Tuan Anh.
Besides the traditional Championship for Men, this year’s Tournament awarded the Championship for the first time for Women. Golfer Joung Sun Mi, with a record of 78 strokes, excellently took the lead in this contest. In addition to the trophy, Joung Sun Mi also received a gold medal from the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City.
The Open HCMC Junior Golf Championship was first held in 2016 with the aim of developing the youth golf movement, creating a playground and competition opportunities to help Vietnamese golfers have enough qualifications to compete with competitors in the region and in the world.
