Pan Pacific Hanoi recently joined forces with Vietnam University of Fine Arts to successfully host the awards ceremony for “Inspiring Tradition” painting competition, as part of the 2024 Pan Pacific Hanoi Art Award.
The “Inspiring Tradition” painting contest was launched in September/2023 to recognize young artists studying in Vietnam University of Fine Arts (Category 1) and Vietnamese artists with disability (Category 2), who demonstrate extraordinary talent in visual arts through innovative and sustainable methods, and offer them the opportunity to showcase their works to the wider community.
The contest theme focuses on the tangible or intangible value, or scenic spots in Vietnam that can be interpreted beautifully as an artistic expression to express emotions and perspectives towards Vietnam cultural heritage.
After 5 months of launching, the hotel has received 76 entries from 72 artists. These pieces of art have captured the hearts of audience and communicated stories using a variety of materials such as oil on canvas, paper cutting, wood carving, lacquer and traditional papers.
At the event, 16 talented young artists were recognized for their exceptional artworks, each conveying messages of humanity and significance. They come from various regions of the country. With strong determination, they are willing to make the required effort to chase their dreams and develop passion for art.
As a member of the judging panel, Ms. Wee Wei Ling, Executive Director of Sustainability Partnerships, Lifestyle, and Asset of Pan Pacific Hotels Group was impressed by the quality of submissions from all artists. She also emphasized that PPHG corporate social responsibility is manifested in three aspects: People, Sustainability and Art.
Following the launch of art book- “The Art of Journey” featuring over 80 artists in 2019, the 2024 Pan Pacific Hanoi Art Award is the next initiative in promoting local heritage, as well as nurturing young talents and artists with special needs. The painting competition is scheduled to take place every year, with the goal of motivating participants to develop themselves and share their unique identities through art.
