Digital travel platform Agoda has observed a rise in interest from travelers from Poland, Switzerland, and the Czech Republic following Vietnam’s introduction of a visa exemption for nationals of these countries.
Agoda reported a 306% increase in interest from Poland, 155% from the Czech Republic, and 68% from Switzerland, according to accommodation searches made on Agoda between January 1 and June 23, 2025, for check-ins between March 1 and December 31, 2025 – the duration of the temporary visa waiver – compared to the same period in 2024.
The visa exemptions became effective March 1, 2025, allowing visa-free stays of up to 45 days for tourism until December 31, 2025. This policy has opened the door for more European travelers to explore Vietnam’s diverse destinations, with Polish travelers showing the highest growth in interest.
This initiative is part of Vietnam’s broader effort to attract international visitors and promote its tourism industry, removing the need for lengthy visa applications and fees and enabling more travelers to immerse themselves in Vietnam’s rich culture, natural beauty, and vibrant cities.
The most popular destinations for travelers from these markets during the visa-waiver period were Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Phu Quoc Island, and Nha Trang. Each of these destinations offers a unique way to experience Vietnam.
Da Nang, known for its golden beaches and the iconic Dragon Bridge, is a gateway to cultural landmarks like the Marble Mountains and Hoi An. Ho Chi Minh City buzzes with energy, offering a mix of modern skyscrapers, historic landmarks like the Cu Chi Tunnels, and a vibrant food scene. Hanoi, Vietnam’s capital, charms visitors with its Old Quarter, serene Hoan Kiem Lake, and centuries-old temples. Phu Quoc Island is a tropical paradise with pristine beaches, lush forests, and world-class resorts, perfect for relaxation. Nha Trang, a coastal city, is famous for its turquoise waters, lively nightlife, and opportunities for water sports like snorkeling and diving.
These exemptions see Poland, Switzerland and the Czech Republic join Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Norway, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom as European countries enjoying visa-free access to the fast-developing Southeast Asian nation.
Lam Vu, Country Director Vietnam at Agoda, shared, “Vietnam’s visa-free policy is a fantastic step forward, making it easier than ever for European travelers to experience the country’s incredible mix of culture, nature, and hospitality.
